"May I give graciously of what is mine..."

As a chapter, we’ve had an eventful February and we already love March! We continue to volunteer at the Shook Home, a retirement home in Chambersburg. We interrelate with the residents by painting the ladies fingernails, make signs for their doors and our favorite… participate in the highly competitive “circle of fun”.
You’ll have to ask us about that one at the Alumni Luncheon (April 17, 2010). We also started taking Self Defense classes called, “R.A.D.”. Every Sunday after our chapter meeting, we meet with the Shippensburg University Police Officers. We’re learning how to appropriately defend ourselves as women. The Ship Police also came to a DZ Risk Management event to talk to us about campus safety. It was truly informative and one of the specifics they taught was the accurate technique to utilize pepper spray/maze! (Hint: Shake, Shake, Shake it!)

We are also collecting new or slightly used shoes to donate to Soles for Soles. They will go directly to those in need, especially in Haiti. In addition to our shoe drive, we have collected and sent care packages to those affected by the earthquakes. Our chapter must pay for the shipping of the shoes to Tennessee and we are currently looking for a corporate sponsor to compensate for the packaging. In return we would promote their companionship on all of our flyers and boxes which will be posted around the town and Shippensburg University... and of course, on our website!

Philanthropy is extremely vital. Our chapter has taken huge strides over the past two years to make it a core part of our sisterhood here in Shippensburg. We have been taking advantage of every opportunity to lend a hand and extend our hearts as Delta Zetas. We will keep everyone posted and look forward April when we will be participating in Take Back the Night and A Mile in Her Shoes, for Domestic Violence.
Thank you for all your support!
